Clear Skin Tips
I dealt with acne from ages 12-24, over a decade. Over those 12 years I had acne show up all over my face, neck, back, shoulders and chest. I tried EVERYTHING, all the quick fixes/cures. I used proactiv religiously for over 5 years, tried all the drugstore face washes and masks, I even started taking a daily antibiotic prescribed by my doctor to help clear up my skin. I would see some results but nothing cleared up my skin completely, I always had multiple zits on my body at all times.
Acne seemed like one of those things where no one really knew the true cause, the main focus was on the cure, which is a BILLION dollar business. Once I went through my transformation from pink haired party girl to holistic minded, I did a lot of online research and experimentation with my body and finally got my skin to clear up. I still get acne occasionally if I don't follow my own advice but overall, my skin is radiant and I have no need for foundation, I even get compliments on my skin which is a dream come true!
Living with acne was extremely frustrating, a huge blow to my ego/self esteem and something that is completely preventable. There is no cure all for acne as well as there is not one cause.
Here are my top tips for clear skin:
1. Self Love: When I found Louise Hay’s book, Heal Your Body, and looked up the possible mental cause for acne, everything made sense. Her book says the probable cause for acne is: Not accepting the self, dislike of the self. I had very low self love for most of my life and it showed up on my face, for everyone to see. I never understood why people can eat the same diet but some get acne and some don't. The idea that it's our thought patterns that causes different issues in different body parts totally made sense to me. My life changed once I made the conscious decision to love myself despite my acne. I started repeating the affirmation: I love and approve of myself exactly where I am right now. I currently use affirmations on a daily basis and these have increased my happiness and quality of life greatly. Learn more about my self love journey here.
2. Leave Your Face Alone: This is something I was terrible at! I was always picking at my zits and/or popping them. Constantly washing my face and putting some special ointment on it but none of that seemed to help. Now I only wash my face once (sometimes twice) a day with plain old WATER. I use a dry brush 4-5 days a week as well which is like a natural exfoliator. I don't use any lotions or toners or special masks and my skin has never looked better.
3. Limit Acne Causing Foods: I have fully experimented with food and acne. The main culprits for my skin are dairy, fatty/oily foods and packaged sugary foods. I have had instances where I was eating really clean and then slipped up with dairy and had a zit pop up immediately. (I lived on dairy as a teen and young adult, was allergic when I was born but somehow lost touch with that fact along the way) I had another experience where I ate cooked pad thai from a restaurant and had a zit pop up before I was even done eating because of the high oil content. I noticed a huge difference when I was eating 100% raw versus eating a plant based diet consuming packaged foods. The more packaged foods I eat the worse my skin gets, now that I know, its a conscious decision, I know my skin won't look as good when I eat certain foods and that is up to me.
4. Intermittent Fasting: I notice the biggest difference in my skin when I practice this, more than the other tips above. Intermittent fasting is where you eat for 8 hours and don't eat for 16. For example: start eating around 11am and quit eating at 7pm. By only eating in an 8 hour window, it allows your body to rest during those other 16 hours. We are kind of encouraged to eat around the clock but this doesn't let our body rest. Its especially important to quit eating a few hours before bedtime. During sleep is when our body has time to heal, if we have a belly full of food, our body is working on digesting instead of healing. Learn more about intermittent fasting here.

Affirmation Journal (e-version)
The idea for this affirmation journal came to me when I started building myself back up after a mental breakdown in early 2017. I took a composition notebook and wrote a positive affirmation on each page. Every day I would spend about 10-20 minutes, pick a few affirmations and write them over and over again. This method really helped me change my mental patterns to create a healthier and happier me.
In this journal, I provide my favorite affirmations with lines for you to write them over and over. There are 4 different categories: Love & Relationships, Career & Financial Success, Optimum Health & Happiness and Peace, Balance & Moving Forward. There is a section where I teach you how to make your own affirmations (DIY Affirmations) and I also teach you two other affirmation techniques that personally help me with pages to utilize them as well.
I made this e-version all black and white so you could easily print at home. There are 8 mandalas throughout the book that were intentionally left black and white so you can color them in!
